Upcycled Sea Creatures

I have designed and fabricated two sea anemones and a jellyfish for the final degree show at Central.

This project was my first attempt to work exclusively with waste materials and to avoid the use of anything harmful to the environment. Therefore, I have collected debris from London’s streets and litter from factories and restaurants. I avoided the use of any kind of paint and/or adhesives: instead, I melted plastics together and sewed with thread obtained from cables or fabric offcuts.

Through this make, I want to raise awareness about the extensive use of toxic materials that we regularly incorporate in our art practice and I invite the audience to consider reducing the use of certain materials and upcycle as much possible.
